An illustrative view of Saint Michael's, a Late Romanesque, early Gothic era Church, and one of the oldest church buildings in Austria. This scene shows the balance of the iconic church within the scenic natural landscape on the banks of the Danube River, nestled in the Wachau Valley.  This location is UNESCO World Heritage Site and signifies the quintessential Medieval Era, European Landscape.

The picture features lush green fields, pink flowering trees, and majestic Alpine mountains, under a bright blue sky, speckled with clouds.

Copperplate etching is a form of “intaglio”, a type of printmaking, in which an image is carved into the surface of a copper plate using a process of acid baths. The plate is inked, and laid on a printing press with a sheet of paper stacked on it.

The assembly is rolled through the press and the image is transferred from the plate to the paper.  A plate can be used to make multiples of the same image, and each impression is a unique, handmade work of art.

The print is handsomely framed with a natural linen liner and an ornate frame with gold-leaf finish.  Ready to hang.
