About the Artist:
Nikolai Baskakov (1918-1993) was a prominent Russian painter, known for his significant contributions to Soviet Realism. Born in the village of Krasnoie Selo in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Baskakov studied at the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), one of the most prestigious art schools in Russia. He was particularly influenced by the works of Ilya Repin and other masters of Russian Realism.
Baskakov's art is characterized by its vivid depiction of everyday life, focusing on themes like labor, family, and the Soviet way of life. His style blends meticulous attention to detail with a deep sense of narrative and emotional expression.
