Celebrating Our Artists for Hispanic Heritage Month!

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th - October 15th) is a time to recognize and honor the rich cultural contributions of the Hispanic and Latin American communities across the United States. Austin Galleries is proud to join in this celebration by showcasing the incredible talent and diverse artistic expressions of the Hispanic artists we represent.

 

During this month, we shine a spotlight on the works of these remarkable artists, whose unique perspectives and creative visions reflect the vibrant traditions, histories, and experiences of Latin America and Spain. From captivating abstract pieces to thought-provoking contemporary art, our collection features a wide range of artistic styles that embody the beauty, resilience, and cultural pride of their heritage.


Explore our Celebrated Hispanic Artists


1. Martha Ochoa


Peruvian artist Martha Ochoa is known for her "Colonial Baroque" style, combining Catholic iconography with rich colonial motifs. 

 

Her work, influenced by the Cuzco School, has earned a Guinness World Record and is featured in collections worldwide, celebrating Peru’s artistic heritage.




2. Borja Fernandez


Borja Fernandez, a contemporary impressionist painter from Mallorca, Spain, is known for capturing the emotional essence of European and South American landscapes. Mentored by Joaquin Torrents Llado, she developed her unique style through years of study.

 

Fernandez’s technique involves layering up to ten transparent oil washes, creating depth and atmosphere with a dream-like clarity. Her landscapes, rendered in both oil and watercolor, reflect fleeting moments of beauty.




3. Carlos Gámez de Francisco


Carlos Gámez de Francisco, who was born in post-revolutionary Cuba in 1987, combines classical training with symbolic passion in his art. Influenced by the Russian Academy, he began painting intensively at a young age. Gámez de Francisco’s art blends tradition and modernity, reflecting his belief that everyone deserves to be part of portraiture.




4. Bartolome Sastre


Bartolome Sastre, born in Pollensa, Mallorca, is a renowned artist who began studying fine arts in Barcelona at 14. His career took off after his first exhibition at Austin Galleries in Texas, leading to international recognition. 

 

Sastre's work reflects his love for exploration, with themes from Italy, France, Portugal, and more recently, India, Thailand, and Morocco. His paintings are rich in symbolism. They tell stories drawn from his conversations with subjects and embody his belief that painting is a narrative art.




5. Estella Aguirre


Estela Aguirre, an abstract artist from Saltillo, Mexico, creates works that blend intuition and emotion. Her spontaneous style allows each piece to evolve naturally, with vibrant layers responding to one another. 

 

Embracing abstraction as a form of self-expression, Aguirre’s art invites deep emotional responses and encourages viewers to find their own meaning. Her work has been featured in exhibitions such as Artists of Latinoamérica in Paris and Gallery Des Ursulines in France.




6. Pep Suari


Mallorca-based artist Pep Suari captures the Mediterranean’s vibrant light through bold, nuanced colors. Blending abstract and figurative elements, his work strikes a balance between order and chaos, marked by expressive figures and dynamic energy. Suari’s style is driven by his unique vision, standing apart from contemporary trends.
